Y-27632

Y-27632 is a highly potent, cell-permeable and selective inhibitor of Rho-associated coiled coil forming protein kinases (ROCK). As well as modulating smooth-muscle contraction by inhibiting Ca2+ sensitization, Rho/ROCK pathway may help to regulate integrin-mediated cell adhesion and motility, which could be critical in processes such as tumour-cell metastasisand immunoactivation. (Ki value of Y-27632 for p160ROCK = 140 nmol/L 6))
Sasai et al. reported in 2007 that it could inhibit cell death due to dispersion when it is added in human ES cell culture and it has attracted attention on various kinds of the effect.
Recently, it has been reported that when this product is added in the cryopreserving solution or in the culture medium after thawing the solution of human ES cells or human iPS cells to be 10 μmol/L, the colony forming activity greatly improves. Also, when cryopreserved ES cells were thawed and cultured in the medium including this product, the colony forming activity was confirmed to be improved.
