TDB–FITC -lysine-dextran

TDB–FITC -lysine-dextran

CAS number: not available

FITC-lysine-dextran is supplied as a yellow to orange powder which is readily soluble in water. FITC-lysine

dextran fixes well in cells and tissue when treated with formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde and is primarily used

for studying permeability and transport in cells, vessels and tissues.

Spectral data: Excitation is best performed at 493 nm and fluorescence measured at 520 nm.

FITC -lysine-dextran

FITC-lysine-dextran is a derivative carrying both free primary amines and free carboxylates as well as the fluorescent dye Fluroescein (FITC). Lysine is a naturally occurring amino acid and popular moiety for conjugation and fixation in biochemistry and life sciences.
FITC-lysine-dextran is also known as Fluoro-emerald® or fluoroemerald ®. After purification, all batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free FITC. FITC-lysine-dextrans are supplied by TdB Labs as a yellow to orange powder TdB Labs with a molecular weight from 4 kDa to 500 kDa.
Fluorescein (FITC) is a bright dye that is used world-wide and absorbs at 493 nm and emits light at 520 nm.

Our high quality FITC-lysine-dextran offer:

  • Excellent molecular weight distribution (low polydispersity)
  • Bright fluorescence
  • Fixability in cells and tissue
  • Easy conjugation to dyes or biomolecules
  • Fully water soluble and excellent stability in solution or on the shelf

Structure
FITC-lysine-dextrans are synthesised from well-characterised dextran fractions derived from Leuconostoc mesenteroides. The dextran fractions are first labelled with lysine and thereafter functionalised with FITC under mild conditions to form FITC-lysine-dextran. The degree of substitution of lysine is 0.005-0.03 (mol lysine/mol glucose) and the degree of substitution of FITC is 0.001-0.01 (mol FITC/mol glucose).

Spectral data
The excitation maximum for FITC-lysine-dextran is 493 nm and the emission maximum is 520 nm.

Storage and stability
FITC-lysine-dextran is stable for more than 6 years when stored dry in well-sealed containers at ambient temperature.

Solubility
FITC-lysine-dextran dissolves readily in water.

Application
FlTC-lysine-dextran is a versatile tool for bioconjugation and fixation in living systems. Read more about applications here.
